Just for You, Dad!

So, I'm late one day, and if it ain't Chris on my butt to get this thing updated, it's my dad! It must mean that we race too much if I have to go to Speednet to check how Shane did for the week. Wednesday was a Special at Brainerd, where they raced Late Models, streeters, and mods. Shane spun out in the heat to avoid hitting another car, and ended up getting a flat tire. In the feature, he also didn't finish, because of water in the distributor cap.

Thursday he raced Willmar, and finished 2nd behind Brandon Davis in the midwest mod. Awesome job, Brandon, as you are having a helluva year! Shane ended up with another DNF in the A-mod. There was a bad crash involving Jason Thoennes going straight on into the wall, and Shane's rearend bent when he also hit the wall, resulting in the tire rubbing on "something" and the tire going flat later in the race. Thankfully Jason was okay, as it looked pretty nasty!

Friday, we headed back to Sauk Centre, as it is a requirement, being that we are paid by the owner just to "show up":). (If you read 20/20, you will know why I say that....But in no way, shape or form is that true.) Shane won the A-mod feature and finished 2nd in the mwm feature behind Dan Ebert. Travis Saurer led most of the feature and looked very strong, until he experienced mechanical failure.

Saturday was back to Brainerd, where they had a stunt man drive his truck through a motorhome at intermission. This was Mason's favorite part of the whole weekend. He still tells his version of how "the truck crashhhed riiight into the hauler"! Shane broke in the mwm heat, so had to start last in the feature, but made it up to 4th from 23rd! He also ended up with a clean sweep in the A-mod.

Sunday it rained all day, so Spike was cancelled. We pretty much just relaxed for Father's Day and didn't do too much. Hope all you dads out there had a blessed Father's Day! And Lots of Love to My Dad!

The shirts we ordered 2 months ago have finally arrived. The top picture is the hoodies, the next 2 pictures are the front and back of the t-shirts, and long sleeve t's. Prices are $20 for T's, $25 for long sleeve, and $30 for the hoodies.

Summer Fun

Finally, the heat is here! Last week the furnace was running, this week we need the AC! The daycare kids are enjoying being able to play outside all day, as do I! On Sunday, Sonja and I took the kids swimming for the day. It was such a beautiful day, and they had so much fun!
Thursday was racing at Willmar, and what was suppose to be a good battle between Shane and Brandon Davis "the Medford Monster"in the midwest mods, turned into an awesome battle with Nelson, Rihn, and Barber. As luck would have it, Shane and Davis both broke something in the left front, forcing them to a DNF. Still, this was one of the best races I've seen in quite some time! Shane finished 2nd in the modified behind Don Eischens.
Friday we went to Sauk Centre where Shane won in the mwm, and experienced some technical diffulty in the Mod. The fuel cell cap didn't get put on, so Shane was pouring fuel all over the race track. He pulled in, got it put back on, went back out in last place, and worked his way up to 4th. Congrats to Danny Bayer on his win, I think he had a half lap lead on 2nd place! :)
Saturday was a bit hectic with Brainerd cancelling late in the day. We ended up going to Ogilvie Raceway where Shane won with the mwm, and took 2nd behind Joey Jenson in the mods. Not sure if it was because they are a new facility or had to many new cars, but they seemed a bit unorganized. Lineups had no rhyme or reason to them, and it was a bit frustrating to some drivers. Shane also took a rock to the finger, so needs to go get it checked out today. Hopefully the track surface will come around, as it seems to be a very nice facility!
Sunday was Golden Spike with just the mwm, where Shane ended up 2nd behind Dan Ebert! Congrats Dan on both your wins this weekend! I hope everyone enjoys their week. Talk to you next Monday!

Surprise....We're rained out!

Well now, doesn't this just feel akward....I went to 1 race all weekend, instead of the usual 4! Thursday Shane raced at Willmar and won the feature with the B-mod and finished 3rd in the A-mod behind Curt Lund and Jason Thoennes! Friday he went I-94 in Sauk Centre and ended up winning the features in both the B-mod and the A-mod. Mason and I had my mom's 50th Surprise Party to attend, with her family and friends! I think she was pretty surprised! I wish it would have been a tad warmer, but we did have a bonfire to stay warm! Saturday was pretty much rained out everywhere within a 200 mile radius, so we stayed home. Spike was cancelled on Sunday, I think just because it was so cold out. There was a couple tracks running, but we didn't feel like making the trek north, so we went to Rumor's to celebrate Shane's dad's birthday! I seriously wish the summer weather would arrive and stay....it's getting annoying. I'm all for needing this rain, but warm temps would really be uplifting! Have a good week, and enjoy your June heat bill!!!! ;)

Mr. Mason's Clean Sweep @ Brainerd

"I won a trophy, too!"

And I won a bike!

Mason won junior fan for street stocks...Timmy Johnson won!
Thursday Shane won with the B-mod at KRA (willmar), and took 2nd behind Keith Tourville in the A-mod. Friday we attended I-94 Sauk Centre's opener on Friday. They were asphalt for numerous years, and this was their dirt debute. Car count was scarce, but good racing nonetheless. Shane got clean sweeps with both cars, and had several door to door laps with Andy Gordon in the Mods! Saturday was NCS (Brainerd) where Mason took home a clean sweep, winning both junior fan, and the bicycle giveaway...It was kids night so they gave away quit a few bikes! Thank you NCS! Shane finished 3rd in the B-mod, behind Mike Japp and John Thompson. Congrats to Rookie Mike Japp on his first win! For his first year in mwm's, he sure did a fine job leading every lap!!! Shane ended up winning A-mods after a good battle for the lead with Don Eischens. Sunday was back to "Good Ole Spike", where Shane ended up getting a clean sweep...Yet another good battle for the win with Dan Ebert running the bottom, and Shane running the high side. I think the races were done by 8:30, which is a rarity, but much needed after 4 nights of racing and staying up late. Well, I'm headed out with kids to wash the race car....should be interesting!!
