Back to Back Sweeps, and Runner Up!!
This weekend went very well...On Thursday Shane got a clean sweep (won the heat and feature) with both the B-mod and the A-mod! It was awesome to see the A-mod finally work so well! Friday was a rain-out, so no racing at Princeton. Although we still spent the evening with the "competition", but this time it was a "bean bag tossing competion". And I will say Denis Czech (#2) is the king at that game...I still haven't figured out if he actually wins "point" wise, or just cons you into believing he has won!!! Regardless, Congrats to Denis and Chris Kiffmeyer, the "sak attack" champs!!
Saturday was back to North Central (Brainerd) where we froze from the brutal wind chills. Shane ended up getting a clean sweep with both cars again! Sunday night was Spike night where he finished 2nd in the heat and 2nd in the feature, behind Dan Ebert (#60) in both races. Congrats to Dan and his crew for an awesome run, though part of me was rootin for Cory Eystad!! Mason loves Dan "Evert" and "Buda" Martini, so he was happy to see 3 of his favorites finish 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Although his favorite is probably Matt Wiesman (aka: Gordy), who had a very impressive heat race win, and finished 5th in the feature!
Well, I hope everyone has a great week, as I am super excited for 80 degree temps today! Hope it is here for good...I'm getting tired of the hats, mittens, and snowpants at the races!!

May 8-11 Racing
Finally a Win with the A-mod!!!!
Mom's 50th with all her kids! This past weekend was the start of our racing 4 nights a week. Shane won the KRA (Willmar) opener with the B-mod, and finished 3rd with the A-mod. Congrats to Craig Christiansen for his big win fresh off of retirement! Friday (Princeton) he didn't finish very well in his heats, so started towards the back of the field, and moved up to 7th in the B-mod and 5th in the A-mod. A HUGE congrats to Paul Fontecchio on his first ever career win at Princeton. I wish I could've been there! (Shane & DJ were right when then told you to clean off a shelf for trophies)!!!! Saturday was North Central (Brainerd), where he finished 2nd in the B-mod behind Dan Ebert, who picked up his first win of the '09 season! And after a loonnngg year last season with A-mod, Shane finally broke his "winless" streak and won with the A-mod! I thought it was one year to the day, but I checked my notes, and his last win was 6-9-08.....So 11 months to the day! Sunday was Golden Spike where he finished 2nd behind John Henkemeyer! The super stock was not in attendance this week, we shall see what next week brings!

Racin' Mason!!!
Well, Chris informed me that I need to update this thing ASAP, meaning Monday am or even late Sunday, because Fouquette Racing was always up-to-date, and apparently I'm slacking. ;) Last weekend Shane raced 3 nights, even though all the weather man talked about was rain.... Friday night was Princeton. He finished 4th with the B-mod and 5th with the A-mod. Saturday was Brainerd (North Central Speedway)'s opener and Shane won with the B-mod and finished 5th with A-mod. Sunday was Golden Spike's (Sauk Rapids) Opener, and though they don't run A-mods there, Shane is going to be running someone else's super stock and his B-mod. He finished 4th with the B-mod and 8th with the Super, after starting last. I apologize for not remembering heat race finishes.....sorry!
So, now onto news other than racing.... Mason is getting to be such a big boy! The Easter Bunny took his nookies a few weeks back, and he did very well considering he was to the point of needing 2 (1 in his mouth & 1 in his hand). We have also started the whole potty training bit, and he his doing well, only because I put him on every 2 hours. But he's been dry almost every day this past week, so he got to go to the Bounce Depot (his favorite play spot) on Saturday, and to the park on Wednesday! He has also been practicing up for racing in his Dale Jr. Hot Wheels car! He is now a pro at turning the wheel if he's about to run into anything! Last night he drove over a mile on the road, while Shane and I walked behind him! And don't even think about putting it in "slow" gear, he shifts it right in to "high"!!!
Well, today is Thursday, and KRA (Willmar)'s opener, so it is officially the start of racing 4 nights a week. Hope everyone has a great weekend! Happy Mother's Day to all you Moms, Happy Fishing to all you fishermen, and Happy Birthday to My Mom, she is turning 50 tomorrow!!!

Princeton & Viking Opener
This past weekend was Princeton and Viking (Alexandria) Speedways openers. Princeton was freezing cold, like almost to the point of unbearable. Shane finished 2nd in the A-mod, and 6th in the B-mod. This past winter he helped set up a fellow competitors B-mod, and he finished 4th. He was as happy as a kid in a candy store. Shane said that seeing him so happy felt just as good as winning! He also mentioned something about not giving away his "secrets" anymore if they're gonna keep beating him! ;) haha
Saturday was thankfully quite a bit warmer. Viking had a ton of cars for their opener night. Shane got a clean sweep with the B-mod (and yes starting on the pole helps at a track like that), and won the heat with his A-mod, and DNF'd in the feature. He got spun out and hit by another car, and broke his steering. The track (in my opinion) was a rail around the high side, and tough to pass. I know the results showed that quite a few drivers moved to the front from the back of the field, but with the infield pit area it is hard to see. I could only see the backstretch and there wasn't a whole lot of passing going on there. I think we may need to invest a double stacker hauler for me to stand on for my viewing pleasure! Believe me, it's the 2nd thing on my list after I win the powerball!!
Well, I wish everyone a great week, and am hoping for sun and warmth for the coming weekend! Brainerd and Golden Spike Openers this weekend!

Checkers or Wreckers
It must mean I need to update this more if I forgot my username and password when signing in today! ;)
Racing is officially underway. The first race of the year was 2 weekends ago down in Lansing and Spring Valley, Minnesota. On the way to the races, Friday (the very first race of the season), I was driving Grandma Julie's new impala and rearended some teenagers right in a traffic jam in the cities. The dents are minimal, but costly, nonetheless! Shane was giving me a hard time (like I'm a bad driver or something), and he accidentally rearended a friend while they were riding 4-wheeler in the pits. The front bumper fell off of Mason's 4-wheeler. So I felt the need to rub it in that he wasn't watching where he was going. Shane said "the way this day is going, I better load my car back up".......Well, the picture above was the outcome of that night - pulled off the track with the tow truck....Had a minor mishap with the wall! Saturday was racing at Deer Creek Speedway with a 5th place finish. Both tracks only have Wissota midwest modifieds, and not the "big" Wissota Mods.
This past weekend we traveled to the same tracks, and Shane picked up the win on Friday at Chateau (Lansing). Saturday was Deer Creek again, and Shane raced Christina Wollak's street stock and finished 3rd in the feature. He won his heat with B-mod and the features were post-poned due to rain. So, as of now, the plan is to attend Princeton's season opener this Friday, Saturday back to Deer Creek for double features, and Sunday Golden Spike Opener! I'm hoping it warms up soon.... these chilly nights are annoying!
